Hi everyone !
In the past few months our mod team have had to spend a lot of time taking care of arguments or drama happening in the OT subforum. In order to cut down on the negativity, we have already deleted several threads, however we still seem to be spending most of our time trying to sort out issues between users since people just go to new threads instead. Simply put, none of us signed up to be spending a majority of our moderating time to be cleaning up arguments, especially when they are not art related. I'd estimate atleast two thirds of the time we're taking care of OT related issues, and we'd much rather be spending time taking care of art shop & theft cases since that is what GASR was made for in the first place. Because of this we've finally decided to take a major decision for the OT - but as users of the forum you all have a say in it too so we're conducting this poll to gauge your opinions. Additionally, the thread will remain open for discussion and/or suggestions.
Here are the two options we've basically been hesitating between:
-We delete the OT subforum in its entirety and GASR will focus on being an art market - this is what we've been considering in the past couple of months
-We keep the OT subforum but delete all non art related threads. This means all conversation based threads such as the OT4OT as well as Game threads will cease to exist, but threads such as the WIP or Latest creation thread will still be here for those who wish to share their art and progress, and perhaps give a bit of leeway in the future for the return of other threads.
Once again, if you have another option or suggestion for us you are reply to this thread although that does not mean we will necessarily adopt it.

I think getting rid of the OT subforum altogether is a little harsh.
Mainly for the WIP and Latest creation thread.
However, I don't think taking away everything else is a great idea either,
don't get me wrong I understand why this has been considered,
but I don't see how that's really "cool" (for lack of a better word)
to remove the gaming/movie threads.
Maybe .. (and this is just an idea which prolly will never happen)
Add another mod or two to strictly monitor the OT section
while the rest of you focus on your original jobs, IE: art theft, Auctions, etc.
Im sure there are a few people on this site that would volunteer.
I realize I am not high up on the tier on this site. And my opinion might not mean a thing.
But I had to say something.
EDIT: I will not vote in this poll because both options are iffy.

Perhaps maybe an OT moderator?

yea, I have never really used the OT section, but found it interesting. i think new mods for that section and also maybe stricter rules on what can be posted would help
..but if there is a continued problem then limiting it would have to do.

I'm sorry! I didn't realize you posted that suggestion, but I agree with you completely!

- we all are equal in the GASR community o. o (that's what I believe in). As a community we're suppose
to work together, and of course members that aren't mods can lend a helping hand to the mods too, if you know what I mean. Don't be discouraged that you may not be at a 'higher tier', that doesn't make you any less. Mods are humans and so are we, everyone is equal. Doesn't matter if someone has a title of being a mod, doesn't mean they are any better than you, me, or other gasr member on this forum. Team work is important, you know? :)
Even if taking the off topic thread from existence doesn't stop the arguments in ways .-. that's just my opinion. Fights may break out through PM and even in other threads too -- bullying can't stopped because people sometimes can't just accept others' opinions. I thought the off-topic thread was a good place to get to know each other, but keep in mind even people can start arguments over art too.

I see what you mean, but it's way less likely for that to happen (when talking about art). Most drama that has broken out deals with real life issues, such as racism. Also dealing with people's differences in general, most haven't been art related. Plus, since there's not too much drama around art, it might be easier to be controlled by the moderators.
Also, I do suggest opening certain threads for real life issues. I think LadyNoir made this suggestion awhile back and I feel that it might help.

Thank you Blueberry! I agree with you. And I agree with you that we need to work together as a community. Sometimes I just feel a little less of importance because I dont contribute as an artist, and I'm just a buyer, (which i guess is just as important but in just a dif way)
... so thankyou.. That made me feel better
And I 100% agree with what you said about removing OT will not stop arguments.
If anything they will just move into the shops, PM, etc. @Kelso
you're fine ^_^ no worries!

, that makes more sense now that I read that. You both have a point, you and @Blueberry
. This situation is tricky. :-(

Agreed it is tricky.
I mean lets face it. I've seen fights break out in OT and Shops.
The last fight I saw in action was in a shop and I PMd the mod XSTASI
and that was alittle less then a month ago. so its not like the other threads are safe.I may be wrong
but I think this
is the wrong solution.
It is unfair to the members of the forum who do not get involved with said arguments.

I do have something to say too .-.
I have been basically told-off in an OT thread by a member three years ago (before I actually left GASR, but I came back a couple of months ago) simply because I stated what I wanted as a career, and because of that person's comment, it discouraged me to say anything in general. But now that I am back on gasr, I have not had any issues with any discouraging comments or any bullying.
I'm not extremely active on the OT, but I've heard about countless arguments. Whatever decision is made for the OT, I hope that the bullying, arguments, and drama will be minimized .-. by a lot.
I don't have much of a point

- Understood, but I'm afraid there is a possibility some bullying problems could break out with art related things ._. it can be easy as saying "your art sucks" or what my friend said, "you did this, this, and this wrong". Something that is suppose to be a helpful tip, can sound really rude, sadly :/ edit:
yes, indeed it is a tricky situation >.<@Noxi
- No problem :) I understand the feeling, and many of others have felt that way too. I'm glad that made you feel better -- I really mean it, and I mean it for everyone too. edit:
I agree, it is unfair for it to be taken away because
of the people who start arguments...one person does something wrong, the privilege is taken away from everyone :/ happens all the time
To make this community better, we all have to put the work into it, not wait for it to happen as well not just in the off topic threads, but the entire forum. I hope that makes sense
However, I'll be honest o. o I'm not really active in the off-topic thread but I've heard things about it here and there. Even if I'm not active in it, I have my opinions too

I stay active in thread in the OT mainly in the threads were drama does not exist IE: the two threads i created, and a few others, I LOVE the RL pic thread, and I love stalking the WIP and recent artwork threads too. I would be upset if those vanished
