- I'm iffy about this idea. I'm a very lurky person on this forum. I'm on pretty much all day even if I'm not posting. And I really don't want this to be a popularity contest. But I'm willing to give it a shot, and hey, it's already making me want to post more.

In the original forumotion system, you do have the ability to dislike posts HOWEVER we have removed that ability. I have also removed the reputation panel on home pages unfortunately it still is visible on the preview.
Even though it says "negative votes" there is no way someone can do it.

Ah okay. That's what I had thought. Thanks for clarifying!

Y'all just scared that people are gonna see most y'all ain't shit.
What we should have is a dislike button...

But, anyways, I really wasn't expecting this at all and I can say that it's rather neat.

I think this is a good idea, but when I first came on here to see the liking of posts I was like: "Omg is gasr turning into facebook?" I believe it can also tell people what they prefer to talk about hence, if someone is talking in a premade shop and the person instead of having a poll just puts his/her top ones in as a message and then they could just like the one they think is the best. //Thumbs up/
I just hope people don't feel bad because they got 0 likes while their best friend is getting 40 a day.
Over all I feel like this will be an amazing idea.

Nearly all forum hosts have a like/dislike system built in, and a lot of forums leave it enabled. Once people get used to it, it becomes a helpful tool. If you're so worried about it being a popularity contest, then why don't you do your part and like helpful posts (or funny/cute ones/etc.) and leave the randoms and asshat's bitching about something/someone sitting at the bottom with 0 reputation. Maybe once they learn their comments are not wanted or needed, they'll stop posting or leave. @Krist
; I only take the time to annoy you 'cause deep down I only hate you just a little.

I don't like it, only because I see alot of people going on and on about it already. I agree with scribbles on the popularity thing but its the off topic threads with posting new creations and real life pics - what if people post pictures of themselves or thier art and get no responces in likes end up feeling shut out and just end up losing confidence and give up? I dont like it - sorry guys

Not to be like... "mean"... or shoot you down mate, but if you're reliant on likes to boost your self confidence, hunty you need to learn how to love ya'self, you don't need to seek others approval etc. in order to be comfortable in ya own skin and in your work, do it for you not for them.
Honestly, this thing will only turn out to be a "popularity contest" if you guys make it out to be that way, naturally if you think of the worst and expect the worst, that's what you're gonna get. So.. like it's only been a few hours, give it a chance. You don't even have to look at it or use it if you don't want to, so there's no reason for you to feel obligated to do so.
I'm pretty indifferent with this change altogether though, if we keep it/scrap it, cool, just don't antagonize it from the get-go. Like on the flipside Tino did take out the dislike option, it's only going to have a negative effect if you guys keep pushing it to be.
i h8 u 100%

Krist worded it better than I.
I also want to remind you guys that we are currently in the testing phase.
So all you guys saying "I hope it doesn't turn into a popularity contest" how about you give it a week and come back and let us know if it does.
If the system is disliked by all we won't keep it.
It's just meant to be insentive for people to be more active, to leave nice comments for others, and just post on GASR in general.
That's all LOL.

will I be able to opt out of this?
this is going to turn into a like war on gasr.
wont be any diff than facebook.

| |This is a cute idea.
To be honest I am pretty much neutral, it's new therefore, I have no reason to hate or love it.
It allows me to be lazy, so if I like something I don't even have to say anything, I can just 'like' it and move on. Keep scrolling. Acknowledgement of their efforts without a word. Like Facebook. Lol.

I definitely plan on trying it out. It's just yeah, hope this works out for the best, it has great potential c:
Like Tiffany said, it allows people to take part even though they don't wish to comment which is nice. Will lead to less clutter and confusion on what people are gushing over lol
