Hi everyone! I'm currently in my last year of university, graduating in May next year! I love art and I've tried my hand at various things such as drawing anime/chibis/doodles but it seems like I'm better at doing pixel art, so I've stuck with that since. I'm self-taught, so I'm still experimenting around with different styles. I've been running an active shop for over a year with a few hiatuses in between. I love GASR as it has a great community where I can interact with fellow artists and art lovers :) I've made many friends here over the years and I hope that continues for a long time to come!

GASR Time

Tue May 05, 2015 10:28 am
Okay so my Dad is on his way /right now/ to get me the new Surface 3 (we had them preordered). Well my parents know I have been wanting to draw on it, cause I show them art on Gasr all the time whining I wanna draw like all you amazing artists. So they are willing to get me art program (like sai pr PhotoShop or whatever).

I want to know what you all think is the best program, they can be free or not (please tell me though)
I also want to know a good pixel program.

THANK YOU FOR ANY FEEDBACK

imo you should go for SAI it's a lot easier for beginner digital artists and it's cheaper too
+ well worth the $$$

you could always go for cracked programs though I don't recommend it since you can sometimes get virus' etc. from cracked versions

or if you got a friend who doesn't mind giving you their serial #'s/seal code etc for the programs then yeah you could do that too

some free/alternative programs you could try though are
- fire alpaca
- krita
- gimp
- ms paint..
- or you could try old versions of sai and ps (I think cs3? is free now)

and I'm sure there's other programs too

I'd say paint tool sai as well, i've seen it being used with the surface before and it worked pretty neat!

paint tool sai definitely, lots of features but easy to get used to andddd worth the $$$
photoshop too (probs cs3) although in my opinion ps is better for editing whereas sai is more for painting?

ms paint, gimp, fire alpaca, manga studio's alright too
depends on what you prefer but id say sai is my #1

So I went to the windows store yesterday cause I was having trouble downloading paint tool sai, and it is too out dated for my tablet, and it says get manga studios instead. Well I want some feed back on that, like is it better then Sai, cause I will be spending $50 on it @-@
