Profile Pictures

When you first sign up with the forums your profile picture will automatically be this.

This is just to show that you have not yet customized your display picture!
If you like this image, feel free to keep it.

Changing your Profile Picture

If you want to change your profile picture first go to Profile located on our navigation bar at the top of every page.

NOTE: The look of the navigation bar is subject to change with different forum layouts.

Once you have entered your profile page, you want to click on the tab that says Avatar.

This is the area where you can customize you avatar image.
However, keep in mind avatar images must not exceed 160 pixels x 220 pixels.

Uploading your Picture

You have 3 options to upload your picture.

You can choose for forumotion to host your image by either...

- Uploading an Avatar from your Computer
- Uploading an Avatar from a URL

However, if forumotion hosts your image the file size cannot be higher than 64 KB.

Or you can host your image yourself by using photobucket/tinypic etc and just link to an offsite avatar
If you link to an offsite avatar, there is no restriction on the size of the image!

When you are finished customizing, remember to click save!

Creating a New Topic

To create a new topic, go to the subsection of the forum you want to create your topic in.

Scroll to the bottom and you'll see a button labeled New Topic

After clicking this, you will be taken to a page to create a new topic.

There are three important things to making a new topic

Title of the Topic - Try and be as specific as you can about your title so users know what you are posting about!

Topic Icon - The topic icon let's people know the "subject" of your topic. It's useful to let people know what you are selling without having to mention it in your topic title!

Watching Topics & Your Favourites

There is a Slight Difference between Watching a Topic and adding one to your Favourites.

Watching a Topic
If you watch a topic, you will receive emails whenever a response is posted to that topic!

Adding a Topic to Your Favourites
If you add a topic to your favourites, it will be listed in your favourites but you will not receive emails when it gets updated.
However, it will allow you to keep track of threads you like!

How to Watch a Topic

Go to the topic you want to watch and scroll down to the bottom.

Right above the Quick Reply on the right side there is a link that says watch this topic for replies.

After clicking that it will tell you that you are now watching this topic for replies.

Finding Topics you Have Posted in / Created

First you need to go to your profile page.
There are a couple of ways you can do so.

There is a shortcut to your profile on every message you post.

Or you can look yourself up on the member's list.

To do so go to Memberlist on the navigation bar at the top of every page.

NOTE: The look of the navigation bar is subject to change with different forum layouts.

Once there you just have to search yourself.

Then click on your profile picture/name to be taken to your profile.

Once on your profile, click on Statistics.

If you click on Number of Topics you will be taken to a list of all the topics you have made.
If you click on Find all Topics where you have posted in you will be taken to a list of all the topics you have posted in! (not just ones made by you)

You can also look this up for other members as well on their profiles!
Sun Jun 22, 2014 9:25 pm
Your Inbox

To access your inbox click on the envelop on the navigation bar at the top of every page.

NOTE: The look of the navigation bar is subject to change with different forum layouts.

Right now I have No Private Messages but it will update itself if I get sent a private message!

This will take me to my Inbox.

Your Inbox can hold a maximum of 50 messages

If you begin to get more messages, it will automatically delete the oldest message and replace it with the new one.
So clean your inbox often!

Some important areas...

Inbox: Shows you the current messages in your inbox

Sentbox: Shows the messages you have sent to other users.

Outbox: This shows messages you have sent to users but they have not yet read. If they haven't read the message yet, you can edit the message.

Savebox: You can also save important messages! They will be saved in your "savebox".

How full your Inbox is: It also tells you how much % your inbox is full.

Friends and Foes List

Update: Forumotion, unfortunately, has not implemented a system where users will be notified of new friend requests so you will just have to check them on occasion.

We've been hearing you guys ask for a blocking system for a while now, and we've decided to finally implement one! The reason why we were hesitant before is that we were concerned about "block and run" theft, but luckily we've figured that out.*

Click here for your friends and foes list!

What is This?

What are friends:
Your friends list allows you to have a.. well, friends list.

What are Foes:
Foes are members whose messages will not be visible to you and you will not receive any more private messages from them.

Adding People to Your Friends/Foes List

You can add people to your friends list by sending them a request. That person will receive your friend request and have the choice of accepting or declining the request.

However, when you add someone to your foe list, they do not get a notice about it (like how a regular blocking system works).

The add/block buttons are located on a user's profile under the log out/send credits links.

The only exception to this is that you cannot block moderators or administrators.
We may have to contact you about something important in the future.

*Your friends and foes lists are public, and if drama starts to ensue because of it then we have no problem removing this feature.

Basic Text Formatting

Most of the codes posted here are also available on this bar.
It shows up whenever you make a post on our forums and therefore you don't have to return to this thread to do basic formatting!

  • Make your text bold

    [b]Insert Text Here![/b]

  • Make your text italic

    [i]Insert Text Here![/i]

  • Underline your text

    [u]Insert Text Here![/u]

  • Strike a line through your text

    [strike]Insert Text Here![/strike]

  • Center Text

    [center]Insert Text Here![/center]

  • Align Text to the right

    [right]Insert Text Here![/right]

  • Change the font size

All you have to do is specify the size (numerical value)
Setting the size as 1 - will make the text very small.
Setting the size as 24 - will make the text very big.

    [size=value here]Insert Text Here![/size]

  • Change the font colour

There are two ways you can do this you can insert the name of the colour.
For example: red, blue, green, black, white, etc.

Or you can insert the hex colour code.
To find these codes, you can search on google or this is a great website I use a lot - hex hub.

    [color=colorname or hex code]Insert Text Here![/color]

  • Change the text font

Please note, not all fonts will work specially ones that are not default on computers.

    [font=insertfontname]Insert Text Here![/font]

  • Make Scrolling Text

There are two type of scrolling text:
    Vertical Scrolling

    [updown]Insert Text Here![/updown]

    Horizontal Scrolling

    [scroll]Insert Text Here![/scroll]

  • Upside Down Text - Upside Down Text

    [flipv]Insert Text Here![/flipv]

  • Horizontal Flip - Horizontal Flip

    [fliph]Insert Text Here![/fliph]

  • Create Sub Text - Create Sub Text

    [sub]Insert Text Here![/sub]

  • Create Sup Text - Create Sup Text

    [sup]Insert Text Here![/sup]

  • Make Text Appear Blurry

    [blur][color=#434343]Insert Text Here![/color][/blur]

You can combine more than one of these codes to make more interesting effects!

Adding a List

There are two kinds of lists you can make...

Bullet List

Allows you to list things separated by bullets.
Example List

  • Red
  • Orange
  • Yellow
  • Green
  • Blue
  • Purple

This is a Bullet List and the code can also be found here.

To insert a list you need to have every point separated by list tags.

[list] [/list]

Inside this code, for every point you have you will need to put the code to add a bullet.
[*] Information here

So in the end, the code for my colour list would look something like this..

Numbered List

If you want numbers separating each points instead of bullets like this...

Example List

  1. Red
  2. Orange
  3. Yellow
  4. Green
  5. Blue
  6. Purple

Then all you have to do, is change the list tags to this.
[list=1] [/list]

This code for a numbered list can also be found here.

Adding an Image

To be able to add an image from your computer onto the internet, you will first need to use an image host!
Some of the most used image hosts are...

After uploading it from your computer to one of those sites, I will be given a link to my image.

Then all I have to do, is take that link and insert it in between image tags.

And voila, I have inserted my image into the forums!

There is also a shortcut for this feature here

Then all you need to do is insert the link of your image there and it will automatically put it between the image tags.

You can also define the height and the width of an image...

[img( height px, width px)]image link here[/img]

You just need to change the height and width into a numerical value.
And this will change the size of your image.
